Ingredients
- 7 quarts plain popped corn
- 2 cups slivered almonds (or other nuts)
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup butter
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Dash of cayenne pepper
Instructions
- Cook two bags of popcorn in the microwave until popped.
- Place popped corn into greased baking pans and sprinkle nuts on top.
- Preheat oven to 240°F (115°C).
- In a saucepan, combine brown sugar, corn syrup, butter, and salt; bring to a boil over medium heat while stirring.
- Boil for 5 minutes while stirring constantly.
- Remove from heat; stir in baking soda and vanilla.
- Pour caramel mixture over popcorn and stir to coat evenly.
- Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.
- Cool on waxed paper and store in airtight containers.
