  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons cold butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped apple
  • 1 cup confectioner's sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with a silicone mat.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flours, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and salt.
  3. Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together milk, egg, and vanilla; add to dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  5. Fold in chopped apples.
  6. Drop heaping 1/4 cup portions onto prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 11-13 minutes or until golden brown.
