  • 56 grams unsalted butter (melted)
  • 106 grams light brown sugar
  • 113 ml buttermilk (room temperature)
  • 1 egg (room temperature)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • 125 grams confectioners' sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F) and lightly grease a doughnut pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, buttermilk, egg, vanilla extract, and nutmeg until combined.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry mixture and stir gently until just combined.
  5. Fill each cavity of the doughnut pan about three-quarters full with the batter.
  6. Bake for about 11 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Allow to cool for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
  8. For the glaze, mix confectioners' sugar with milk and vanilla until smooth; dip each cooled doughnut in the glaze before serving.
