  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 5 teaspoons water
  • 1/4 cup active sourdough starter
  • 1 1/3 cups + 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 teaspoons fine sea salt
  • 4 cups + 2 tablespoons bread flour

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the initial sourdough starter, flour, and water. Let it sit at room temperature for about 4 hours until bubbly.
  2. Mix active sourdough starter with water in another bowl until dissolved. Add the prepared starter mixture and salt before gradually incorporating the bread flour.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth; shape into a ball and place in a greased bowl.
  4. Cover and let rise for about 8 hours or overnight.
  5. Deflate and shape into a round loaf; let rise seam-side down for another hour in a proofing basket.
  6. Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C), then bake for approximately 50 minutes until golden brown.
