  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cups (175 g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup (80 g) Heath toffee bits with chocolate
  • Flaked sea salt for topping

Instructions

  1. Brown the unsalted butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat until golden brown. Stir in espresso powder and refrigerate until firm.
  2. Beat the browned butter with both sugars in a stand mixer until light and fluffy.
  3. Blend in the egg and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Mix in baking powder, baking soda, salt, and flour on low speed.
  5. Fold in the toffee bits gently.
  6. Chill dough balls for several hours or overnight.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Place dough balls on parchment-lined baking sheets, sprinkle with flaked sea salt, and bake for 11–13 minutes until golden at the edges.
