  • pounds lean ground beef
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar (for glaze)
  • ½ cup ketchup (for glaze)
  • 1½ teaspoons salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 small onion, chopped (or ¼ cup dried onion flakes)
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ¾ cup regular bread crumbs

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and lightly grease a loaf pan.
  2. In the prepared pan, layer the bottom with brown sugar and spread ketchup over it.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, milk, eggs, salt, pepper, onion or onion flakes, ginger, and bread crumbs. Mix until just combined.
  4. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it over the ketchup layer in the pan.
  5. Bake for about 1 hour or until juices run clear and the internal temperature reaches at least 160°F.
  6. Carefully invert onto a serving platter to enjoy warm.
