  • 12 oz bowtie pasta
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup milk (whole or 2%)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook the bowtie pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve some pasta water before draining.
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat, add ground beef, and cook until browned. Stir in onion and garlic; cook until softened.
  3. Add Italian seasoning and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper. Remove beef mixture from skillet.
  4. In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté minced garlic until fragrant. Whisk in flour, then gradually add milk while stirring until thickened.
  5. Lower heat; stir in cheeses until melted. Combine cooked pasta and beef mixture into the sauce, tossing to coat well.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with parsley and extra cheese if desired.
