Description

Creamy gochujang udon noodles are a quick and delicious dish that combines the chewy texture of udon noodles with a rich, spicy sauce made from gochujang, butter, garlic, and cream. In just 20 minutes, you can create a satisfying bowl that will impress family and friends alike. Customize it with your favorite vegetables or protein to make it your own!


Ingredients

  • 2 packs frozen udon noodles
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 shallots, chopped
  • 1.5 tbsp gochujang
  • 0.5 cup heavy cream
  • 0.5 cup reserved noodle water
  • 2 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp gochugaru

Instructions

  1. Cook udon noodles according to package instructions in a large pot of boiling water. Reserve 0.5 cup noodle water before draining.
  2. In a frying pan over medium heat, melt the butter and sauté minced garlic and chopped shallots until fragrant (about 2 minutes). Stir in gochujang and cook for another 30 seconds.
  3. Slowly add heavy cream and reserved noodle water to the pan, then mix in soy sauce and gochugaru. Simmer for 3–5 minutes until thickened.
  4. Toss cooked udon noodles in the sauce until evenly coated.
  5. Serve topped with grated parmesan cheese, chopped green onion, and optional egg yolk.
