- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 2 packets rapid-rise yeast (about 4 1/2 tsp)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 6 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (room temp) for filling
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar (packed) for filling
- 1 tbsp cinnamon for filling
- 4 oz cream cheese (room temp) for icing
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (room temp) for icing
- 1 cup powdered sugar for icing
- 2 tsp vanilla extract for icing
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine warm water and sugar; stir in yeast and let sit until foamy (about 5 minutes).
- In another bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg to the flour mixture.
- Knead on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise until doubled in size.
- Prepare filling by mixing brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
- Roll out dough to a rectangle about ¼ inch thick; spread room temperature butter over it.
