Ingredients
- 3–6 uncooked lasagna noodles (preferably no-boil)
- 1/2 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 1 carrot, diced
- 2 1/4 cups spaghetti sauce
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil
- Salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a loaf pan.
- If using traditional noodles, cook them until al dente and let cool.
- In a skillet, heat oil, brown the ground beef with onion and carrot; drain excess fat.
- Stir in garlic and spaghetti sauce; simmer briefly.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta, egg, half of the mozzarella, Parmesan, basil, and salt.
- Layer in the loaf pan: start with sauce, then noodles, ricotta mixture, meat mixture; repeat layers.
- Top with remaining noodles, sauce, mozzarella and Parmesan.
- Cover with foil and bake: traditional noodles for about 20 minutes; no-boil for about 30 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake until golden brown (15 minutes). Let sit before slicing.
