Ingredients
- 1 loaf stale white bread (15–18 oz)
- 1 ½ cups milk
- 1 cup pure pumpkin
- 5 large eggs
- ¼ cup white sugar
- 1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
- ½ cup all-purpose flour (for topping)
- ½ cup brown sugar (for topping)
- 1/3 cup chopped pecans (for topping)
Instructions
- Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Whisk together milk, pumpkin, eggs, sugar, spice, and vanilla in a bowl until smooth.
- Cut the stale bread into cubes; place half in the baking dish and pour half of the custard over it.
- Repeat layering with remaining bread and custard.
- For the topping, mix flour, sugars, spice, pecans, and melted butter until crumbly; sprinkle on top of casserole.
