  • ⅓ cup light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 2½ teaspoons fresh cracked black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons ground mustard
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ½ cup barbecue sauce (your favorite brand)
  • 3 tablespoons light brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F.
  2. In a small bowl, mix sugars, onion powder, kosher salt, paprika, black pepper, ground mustard, cumin, cayenne pepper, and nutmeg.
  3. Remove the membrane from the ribs and place them on a large sheet of heavy-duty aluminum foil.
  4. Apply the dry rub generously over both sides of the ribs.
  5. Seal the foil tightly and bake for 2 hours and 30 minutes.
  6. Increase oven temperature to broil. Mix barbecue sauce with light brown sugar and spoon over ribs.
  7. Broil for an additional 2–3 minutes until caramelized.
  8. Allow resting for about 10 minutes before serving.
