  • 34 pounds pork shoulder (bone-in or boneless)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 12 tablespoons olive or avocado oil
  • 1 onion (chopped)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix paprika, garlic powder, cumin, chili powder, kosher salt, and brown sugar. Rub this blend over the pork.
  2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add oil and sear the pork on all sides for about 3–4 minutes.
  3. Place the browned pork shoulder and chopped onions into the slow cooker. Set it to low and cook for approximately 8 hours.
