Ingredients

  • Wonton wrappers (50-60)
  • Ground pork (200g)
  • Raw shrimp, chopped (200g)
  • Ginger, grated (1 tbsp)
  • Green onions, chopped (2)
  • Chicken broth (3 cups)
  • Garlic cloves, smashed (2)
  • Soy sauce (light) (3 tbsp total)
  • Sesame oil (toasted) (2 tbsp)
  • Sugar (2 tsp)

Instructions

  1. Make the wonton filling by combining ground pork, chopped shrimp, ginger, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, and salt in a bowl. Use a potato masher to achieve a smooth texture without pureeing the shrimp.
  2. Lay out wonton wrappers and place a small spoonful of filling in the center of each. Moisten edges with water and fold to seal tightly.
  3. To cook fresh wontons, boil water in a pot and cook wontons for about 4 minutes until they float. Remove with a slotted spoon.
  4. For the broth, simmer chicken broth with garlic cloves and ginger for 5-10 minutes. Remove solids before serving.
  5. Assemble by adding cooked wontons to bowls and ladling hot broth over them. Garnish with shredded green onions.
